Such relationship implies interaction of ATG with the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, organizations of water supply and drainage, forestry, and subsoil use. One of the important achievements of JV "Asia Trans Gas" LLC was the introduction of environmental management system (EMS) and successful certification for compliance with the international standard ISO 14001:2015. Among foreign and domestic enterprises, having an ISO certificate is an important characteristic.
Planning and implementation of production activities is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the environmental legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and ISO 14001:2015. In practice, this is accomplished by identifying environmental aspects and risks, developing objectives and measures to achieve them, assessing compliance with established legal requirements, managing documented information, informing, and training personnel, and conducting internal and external audits.
Since the commissioning of ATG facilities, the company has been carrying out systematic work to reduce environmental impact and improve energy efficiency, which is based on the principles of rational use of resources and fulfillment of the requirements of environmental legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the company’s obligations.
The Company has organized and conducts regular departmental industrial environmental control and industrial environmental monitoring (IEC&M), which includes a set of measures aimed at ensuring verification of the implementation of environmental protection measures during production and other economic activities, rational use and restoration of natural resources, as well as monitoring compliance with environmental protection requirements established by environmental legislation.
The complex of environmental protection measures includes technological renewal and modernization of equipment, introduction of innovative environmental protection technologies, improvement and landscaping of territories, preservation of natural ecosystems, environmental training, and education.
JV “Asia Trans Gas” LLC also pays great attention to methane emission reduction throughout the production chain. In particular, it conducts regular in-line flaw detection of gas pipelines, inspects their technical condition and monitors methane emissions into the atmosphere with laser detectors.
The power demand of ATG facilities is mainly met by its own energy resources. Energy sources that convert solar energy into direct electric current (solar panels) and electricity generated by gas-generating equipment are used.
As part of the nationwide “Yashil Makon” project, ATG planted more than 17,000 seedlings of various tree and shrub species. ATG also has its own pilot project "Green Belt", which aims to preserve and restore natural ecosystems in the regions. In order to adapt ecosystems to climate change, ATG is planting saxauls and indigenous species of vegetation, the long-term practice of which shows their importance in the desert regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Perennial non-invasive grasses are also used in biological reclamation of disturbed lands.
In order to keep records and monitor the condition of all types of green plantings growing at the facilities of ATG and territories adjacent to the facilities, a "Register of Trees of Bukhara MGMC facilities" was created.
JV “Asia Trans Gas” LLC considers it fundamentally important that all employees of the company possess the basics of environmental knowledge and consciously apply it not only in production activities, but also in their daily practice.
